The game of Love

Introduction

Love is a very complex word that everyone tries to interpret by their own means. Maybe as you are reading this you already think of someone, all of us have felt or shown love. But most of us failed to have the love that we need, some people really love a person who doesn't love them, and most of them just hide the feelings and tries to forget it. But did you know that in some means we can manipulate the mind of someone to like us more? But ofcourse you must be sincere in order to properly deploy this tactics. I created this article to help other people who have difficulties of expression their self to the people they like, and for those who know nothing about courtship.

The Law of Association

Remember those times when you are not in a good mood? Even if someone will offer you something good there is still a chance that you will refuse, right? But when we are somewhat happy or excited we tend to ignore slight bad happenings. This is the first psychological loophole that we will try to exploit. If you want someone to like you more then try to talk or hang out with him/her when his/her mood is good or if he/she is excited. By exploiting this positive stimuli, you will be associated with that event and if you do it right he/she will remember you again the next time he/she feels the same feeling even if you're not in that moment.

But what about if she has a problem? Well that's out of this law, it's just a matter of common sense if you will talk with her for long even if she is in a bad mood, try to give her some advice and cheer her up then give her some space to think. It would not be a good idea to be always in the side of someone, you might end up in the so called "friendzone" where she just treat you as a friend and that would likely remain even if you told her what you feel.

This law simply tells you to take the chance whenever you see that she is happy or excited about something try to exploit the chance, talk and make her laugh as best as you could. Personally I can say that this works, yes, I used this technique to have an advantage over a girl that I love where in fact she has a suitor who is courting her for almost two years.

Law of Scarcity

The law of scarcity states that the more we can't obtain something the more we wish we have them. For example, Gold and Oxygen, we can't live without oxygen or air but we value more golds and precious gems. This is because oxygen is available everywhere (atleast for now) while gold is very scarce that only people with money can have them.

This is one of the mistake in my generation, they think that showing obsession towards the people they like will give them a better edge of showing the same feeling. If you really like someone to have a positive feelings towards you then try to make yourself "scarce", maybe show to them that you have another priority in life rather than love or (for girls) you need 5 months of courtship before you can decide about that matter.

Law of Reciprocal Affection

This law states that we tend to feel the same on how people feel about us, for example, if someone hates us for no reason we tend to hate them too in that way. And if someone compliments us for being good in class or in work we tend to have a positive feeling towards that person too. With this law we will exploit their feeling by simply telling that you like her. Does this contradict with Law of Scarcity? No, definitely no, with law of reciprocal affection you will just simply tell her that you like her and that's it, don't show obsession or aggressiveness about what you feel about her. At the moment she knew that you like her, she will unconsciously feel positive to you too, or in best cases, she might start to develop feelings towards you.

Similarities

This is a common mistake that we hear, they say that people with opposite personality are more compatible with each other. The truth is that people with similarities can easily get along with each other, and they can share common thoughts and feelings. So if you want to know more about someone, consider telling her the things that she likes too, for example you like computers and books but she love books and fashion, try to talk more about books rather than showing what you know about computers, which most people would likely to do.

Law of Contrast and Association

This law deals with the right way to meet someone for the first time, first impression is a very risky part. The law of contrast and association states that when we meet someone with companion we tend to judge them by the people around the, that's why there is a saying "Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are", when meeting someone, it will be a good idea to bring a companion with you with good physical aspect and personality BUT don't bring a companion with the same sex that is more attractive than you. If you're a boy try to bring your closest girl friend as companion but make sure she has a good personality and would make a good impression, if you did this right one of the first impression that she would see is that you know how to respect woman which is a good thing. For girls maybe bringing your bestfriend during the first meeting is also a good idea, but always clarify the relationship between you and your bestfriend to the guy you just met because it might give a negative impression.

A little favor is everything

This is a psychological loophole that we usually can't see, when someone ask a "little" favor (opposite sex) we tend to have a positive feeling towards them specially if the favor is not that big, or it's just an easy task. Whether you're a boy or a girl, try asking or forcing them unconsciously to do a little favor for you, something like asking to use his/her phone because your phone's battery is empty, asking to borrow or pen or anything, but don't abuse it just ask for a very little favor. It also unconsciously inject the thought that you are "open" with each other, that she can also count you in when he/she needs a little help (that would apply to the law of association too).

Law of consistency

The law of consistency mainly deals on how we can know more about a certain person. This law states that when we do a small favor we tend to accept similar but larger form of favor in the future. A group of homeowners tried to ask home owners to put a huge "Drive carefully" sign in front of their yard, only 17 agreed to have that sign, they tried the same experiment but now with a smaller sign, a three-inch sticker with "Be a careful driver" to put in their window. Nearly all of them agreed to have the sticker, after few weeks they asked the home owners again if they would like to put the huge "Drive carefully" sign, and surprisingly almost 76% of them agreed. So how can we apply this law? When it comes to "getting to know each other" stage it is important that we know all important details about a person, you can try starting with the basic questions like her birthday, favorite foods and etc, then later ask some more serious questions like her status and views about relationship, her feelings about you and etc.

You're not perfect

The sense of being "perfect" is mostly the biggest mistakes of nearly all men and women, we tend to show that we are good at everything. Study suggest that admitting that you're wrong about something is a good thing, not only you show sportsmanship, you also show that you're not perfect and you're a real human. Laughing at your mistakes is a good way to escape shameful mistakes rather than doing non-sense excuses about that event.

Repeated exposure

Have you notice how advertisements today works? They just put their name everywhere and anywhere they could, even if it's just their logo or just the color that can represent them, no message no gimicks. This is because of the psychological loopholes in our mind, we usually trust something that we already know or always know, we always see "Coca-Cola" everywhere so if we are to choose between Coca-Cola and a softdrinks with not so popular name we will surely choose Coca-Cola products right? This is because we already trust them by seeing their names everywhere. How can we exploit this law without breaking the law of scarcity? Always talk with her in any way possible but in a friendly and non-obsessed way, maybe always ask her if she's okay or try to make excuses just to talk with her even through phone or any possible way that you can talk with her always. But don't disregard the law of scarcity when exploiting this law.

Matching postures and speech

This is a minor but can be an effective way of talking with someone to build a rapport. Matching your postures and speech will greatly help the interest between the two of you, so for example she starts to speak faster (maybe she's happy or excited) then try to speak in the same rate too but not in obvious way that you are mimicking her, if she tries to cross her hand try to do the same too after some seconds (not obvious way). In this way she will feel more comfortable to talk with you because she unconsciously feels that you feel the same. What you are doing here is you're mimicking her body language, so if her body says that she's excited then try to mimic her actions too to show that you're excited too.

Positive Attitude

Having a positive attitude will greatly improve your relationship with someone, try not to show sadness (unless it's necessary) or negative thinking while talking with her, always show the bright side of you.

Gazing into eyes

Looking directly in the eye of someone will make her feel more connected to you, and if you're telling some story to her try to look in her eyes (not in an annoying way), in this way you can show your seriousness and sincerity of what you are saying.

Review

Everything I mentioned above will not work if you don't trust yourself that you can do it, to love someone is to love yourself first. Also the sincerity is important, it's hard to pretend about what you feel and you might do something wrong if you're using this for fun as we are dealing with psychological loopholes. Lastly, these laws are just "guide" and some of them might not work for a particular situation, just be yourself and you'll be fine.

Mario, a name that most kids in our century might not know, the guy who break bricks using his head but will die when he touched a walking or flying turtle. The game was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Gunpei Yokoi which is also two of the lead developer of Donkey Kong.

Cracking your knuckles - myth?

Cracking your knuckles affect your joints – Fact or Myth?

Some says that cracking your knuckles, neck, back and other parts of your body will affect your joins and sometimes result to arthritis. But Did you know? that the sound we hear are actually air pockets in your body, and they just pop when you crack them. Each joints in our body is filled with synovial fluid, a thick fluid that lubricates our joints. When we don’t usually use joint the pressure in our synovial fluid drops and form bubbles (just like other fluids, stop stirring them and they will form bubbles or other noticeable changes), when we crack them they are not actually “Cracking” sounds they are “Popping sounds”.
Did you know? The process of cracking a joint is called “Cavitation”.

Is it good?

Notice why we need to warm up before doing some physical activities such as jogging? We do that so that our joints will not be forced by our movements, and cracking our joints is one way of doing it. As long as it doesn’t hurt it’s still a good thing, but something in the neck must be done with care because our neck is a very vital part.

So it doesn’t cause arthritis?

As of this time there is no scientific proof of that claim. There is still NO link between arthritis and Cavitation. Although cracking your knuckles feels good specially after a hard day of work, we still need to take precautions, don’t overdo it and when you feel a pain after you crack them then stop it for a while or consult a doctor.

Protect the Net: Phishing

What is a phishing?

Phishing is a type of hacking where the attacker copy a website that you use in order to acquire information such as email, username and password. An attacker will copy the exact source code of a given page then change on how the data will be transmitted, instead of sending it to the server the webpage will simply log your data and redirect you to the actual site.

How to detect a phishing site?

The URL:
The very first thing you should see is the URL or Uniform Resource Locator, so a phishing site for facebook will not show http://facebook.com in your address bar, the attacker will have for example facebo0k.webhost.com, so whenever you are asked to sign-in you have to look first in your address bar and see if it is the real site.
Redirect:
A phishing site is not connected to the actual site so the best thing it can do is to redirect you to the original website after giving your information.
For example:
You are in facebook and someone send you a link. You clicked the link and you see the facebook home page and asking you to login.
You will normally see the website asking you to login (see picture above). And because you want to see the link or just relogin you will enter your email and password (you are not actually logged out), when the phishing site got your account it will just simply redirect you to the original website. Because you are not really logged out you will still see your account and suspect nothing, but your information is already stored in their database. If you experience clicking a link and you are suddenly logged out for no reason then it can be a phishing site and look for the URL first before doing anything.

The longest word in the "world"

The longest word in the world

When we say “The longest word in the world” the first word that comes up in our mind is the “Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis” or the disease caused by silica dust. But when we say “In the world” we are not just talking about the English Language, so technically we would need to consider all field of knowledge and language such as words from mathematics, science, physics, astronomy and all other words.
The chemical name of Titin which is the largest known protein has 189,819 letters and it’s just one (1) word. And this is the longest word in the world, so you might ask why it is not in the dictionary? Some lexicographer does not consider a chemical name as a word. That’s why it is not included in the list of official words in the English Language.
Link to the whole word: http://pastebin.com/puXj3GpJ
Did you know? Nagsisipagsisinungasinungalingan is the longest tagalong word.

Facebook Addiction Disorder

Introduction

Just like drug, Facebook can be addictive in a way that it affects your life, education, word, socialization, family and other important things rather than liking, commenting and sharing to useless things we see on facebook. An American psychologist believes so. In fact, he even introduced a new term to describe such an addiction. FAD, or Facebook Addiction Disorder, is a condition that is defined by hours spent on Facebook, so much time that the very life of an individual is already affected (Mostly in work or school). It has been said that approximately 350 million people are suffering from this disorder that is detected through a simple set of six-criteria. People who are victims of the condition must have at least 2-3 of the following criteria during a 6-8 month time period.

These are the 6 symptoms of FAD:

1.Tolerance: A person suffering from this disorder cannot live a day or minute without seeing his/her precious wall. If you are the type of person that can’t live a moment without opening your account then you should think twice.
Did you know? An average facebook user spend 7 hours a month.
2.Withdrawal symptom: If by any chance you don’t have the chance to login your facebook account and you feel anxious and depressed then you might have this kind of disorder. Withdrawal symptoms is normal to other kinds of addiction (such as to nicotine) and they tend to feel stressed out or the worse, they’ll do any possible solution to feed their hunger.
3. Reduction of normal social/recreational activities: People suffering from this disorder will have a visible reduction to their social activities, such as going to parties, talking to friends and family.  They usually reject social and recreational activities in exchange for the fun-pack facebook experience.
4. Virtual dates: This is a new trend today, but this can be a symptom of FAD too, people with this disorder will just prefer to have an online conversation with their partner instead of going out to see a movie or have a dinner.
5. Fake friends: Facebook addicts normally add person they don’t really know, but isn’t this normal to other people? Well, yes but people with FAD have 8 friends they don’t know and only 2 known friends in real life, maybe because of the games they play on facebook?
6.Complete addiction: This a clear symptoms of addiction, when they met new friends they often say “I’ll see you on facebook” or when they met new people they first ask for their facebook account before knowing other details.

How can you fight it?

1. Admit it: The very first thing you need to do is to admit it, how can you fight a disorder that you can’t accept that you have? It would be stupid to have a chemotheraphy without cancer right?
Did you know? 41% of FB users are addicts
2. Ask your friends and family: asking the close people to you about how they feel about the amount of time you spend on facebook might surprise you. They might also give you motivation and reasons to stop your addiction.
3. Keep track of your facebook usage: After you decided to stop this craziness the first thing you have to do is to know how addicted you are.
4. Limit yourself: After you know everything you need to know it’s time to start the process, if you spend 10 hours a day maybe you can cut it to 5 hours a day first then 3 hours and so on until you can live a day without it anymore.

Different ways to limit yourself:

Software based: There are different softwares that can help you manage it; even windows have a feature where a certain account can access the computer in a specific time only. But ofcourse you need to help yourself do this, not cheating the system.
Facebook as a reward: Since you are still addicted to it, you can ask your parents to hold your laptop and just give it after you finished your homework or activities such as playing some physical sports and helping to household thingy. After you did all of this you can enjoy facebook now, and in the end you’ll end up to refuse to have it as a reward and avoid it completely.
Step away from PC: The machine itself that you can use for facebook is a big factor, try to go out to stay away from your computer so you can easily avoid from using it.
Clarify the role of FB to your life: Always think that facebook is a medium to connect you from people far away from you, and it doesn’t mean you need to disconnect your life from people around you.

Do you really know DotA?

A lot of teens are addicted to the popular RTS game called DotA (Defense of the Ancients), but do they know how it started and who are the people involved for creating such epic strategy game?

Aeon of Strife

For we are able to understand its history we need to know where the idea came from. DotA was based on Aeon of Strife, a game mod designed for Starcraft (Another popular game) it was created by Aeon64. When Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos was released Aeon of Strife was ported to ROC because of the limitation of Starcraft engine and it was created by a modder named “Eul”.

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne

When The Frozen Throne (TFT) was released, Eul made a version called “DotA 2: Thirst for Gamma” for TFT engine, but it wasn’t successful, Eul then disappeared without publicizing the source code.

DotA All-Stars

After the disappearance of Eul many people modded the TFT version of DotA, like DotA DX Series, DotA Unforgiven and DotA Outland. Meian and Ragn0r compiled the fun-to-play heroes from all different versions of DotA and that’s why it is called “Allstars”. After releasing the official version of DotA Allstars these modders stopped updating the map. During the 3.xx versions of DotA Allstars a legendary modder called Guinsoo appeared and he began the 3.xx and 4.xx series. In 4.0a roshan was introduced, Roshan is the name of Guinsoo’s bowling bowl. The first stable competitive mode was v5.84.
Because of its popularity the numbers of players are increasing exponentially, and this is the time when Guinsoo recruited two members from Clan TDA named Neichus and IceFrog.

5.xx Series

Tidehunter was first introduced in the 5.74 version, then Ursa Warrior, and Atropos in v5.75 while Keeper of the Light, Tinker, Ogre Magi, Pudge (2.0 version) and Sand King in 5.76 some old heroes are also nerfed (balancing).
It’s final version is 5.84c v2, and became a stepping stone in the history of DotA it is the official, organized and influential competitive DotA version.
Did you know? 5.84c wasn’t released by Guinsoo, a bug in 5.84b was fixed by a Russian modder called “True.Rus” who released the unofficial 5.84c he also reduced the load time from 3minutes to below 20s only.

IceFrog and the 6.xx Era

Some moment after the DotA AllStars 6.00 was released, Guinsoo announced that this will be the final DotA map that he is going to update (He was recruited for LoL). At this time Neichus was incharge in the project since October 2004.
Some heroes were born under his management; Earthshaker, Tiny, Chen, Stealth Assassin, Phantom Lancer, Enchantress, Enigma, Axe, Shadow Fiend, Visage, Nerubian Weaver, Bloodseeker and Dazzle. When Neichus left IceFrog became the head developer of DotA Allstars.
In 6.10 version IceFrog made tons of modifications and improvements, he remake Faceless Void too. He added Invoker in the sourge team (With 31 Spells rather than the current version with around 10 spells only), He was so much imbalanced at that time so he removed his for some time. He focused on balancing game and heroes at this time.
Arthas was introduced in 6.20 version and fixing bugs and balancing became the priority up to 6.27, this version became the pinnacle of DotA maps and the most balance of all. DotA Allstars became an event in the World Cyber Games Singapore 2005 and 6.27b was used as the official version to be used in leagues and tournaments.
At this moment there are 2 stable versions of DotA Allstars; 5.84 and 6.27.
And the rest was history now, IceFrog put lots of effort balancing heroes, adding new heroes items and skills as well as improving the overall competitiveness of the game for more strategic gameplay that led it to its popularity.
Did you know? Eul Scepter of Divinity and Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse was dedicated for the two past creator of DotA.

Smoking and its benefits

Everyday we can see people from teens to adults smoking a stick of cigarette. We can also see the word “Cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health”, but do we really know the danger that this stick can bring to our lives?

How dangerous is it?

We all know that cigarette has lots of chemicals in it, but do we really know how dangerous they are?

Carcinogens

Carcinogens are substances that can cause or worsen an existing cancer, and Did you know?that in every stick of cigarette there are about 60 carcinogens present in this deadly little sticks.
Common Carcinogens present in a Cigarette
Benzene – Gasolines and pesticides contain this kind of chemical, and cigarette also contain this kind of harmful substance. There is a very high amount of Benzene in every stick of cigarette and half of our exposure to this hazardous chemical comes from cigarettes.
Formaldehyde – When the morgue needs to preserve a dead body they put Formaldehyde to prevent the body from decaying for some moment, this is also a very hazardous chemical and it is the reason why smokers experience throat, nose and eye irritation while smoking cigarette.
TSNA - Tobacco-specific N-nitrosamines are also present to cigarette sticks and is a kind of carcinogen.
Toxic Metals
Toxic metals or heavy metals are metals that when taken in a very small can support life (some), but when taken in large amount it can become toxic and might kill a person.
Note: Taking a little amount everyday is not an excuse.
Common Toxic Metals present on cigarettes
Arsenic – Arsenic is a common ingredient for rat poisons and pesticides.
Cadmium – Cadmium is found on batteries, and inhaling batteries doesn’t sounds a good idea anyway.
Radioactive toxic metal
Lead (Pb) and Polonium (Po) are both radioactive and heavy metals and the good news here is that they are present in every cigarette sticks. Radioactive materials are very dangerous to our health, and they can cause abnormalities to our body such as shrinking the penis of a man or lower the sperm cell count.
Poisons
A poison is a substance that when inhaled, consumed or applied to a living thing can cause severe physical distress or death. On average, a single cigarette stick contains more than 200 types of poisons.
Most common poison in a cigarette
Amonia – This is a compound mostly used for cleaning and for fertilizers, it is also known to boost the effect of nicotine to smokers.
Carbon Monoxide – Car exhaust has a high amount of this poisonous gas, and a cigarette can contain a high amount of carbon monoxide too.
Hydrogen Cyanide – We all know Hitler right? And we know that he killed millions of Jews using the gas chamber. Hydrogen Cyanide is the exact poison used to kill the Jews in the gas chamber and is also present to cigarette.
And finally….
Nicotine – The very reason for your addiction to smoking, when your body became dependent to nicotine it will need continuous supply of nicotine or else you will feel uncomfortable, this is the reason why smokers always tell you that smoking can relieve stress, because the stress itself was created by the nicotine they inhaled with each cigarette they consume.

Why you should stop right now?

Health benefits
Cigarette smoking has been proven increase our life expectancy by about -10 minutes per stick, and the number of health benefits we can gain from smoking is not more than -100. Isn’t that great?
Some health benefits are:
-Cardiovascular diseases
-Cancer (Lung, Mouth and throat cancer are the most common)
-Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
-Bronchitis
-Emphysema
-Heart diseases
-High blood pressure
-Fertility Problems for both men and women
-It will worsen asthma (Smokers and Secondhand smokers)
-Increased risk to cataracts
-Stain in the teeth and gums
-Can increase the acid in your mouth and can cause ulcer
-Smoking can cause wrinkles and pale skin because of the lack of blood supply and Vitamin A
-Being dependent to cigarette (Nicotine)
-Possible risk to blood clot in the heart
-Erectile Dysfunction for men (Lack of bloodflow in the penis means lack of erection)
What will you get when you stop smoking?
-Normal blood pressure in the first 20 minutes of not smoking
-Oxygen level will return to normal 8 hours after stopping (Carbon Monoxide)
-Normal sense of taste and smell
-Nicotine will be removed in your system in the 2nd day
-Decreased chance of having a heart attack
-Increased energy level and relaxed bronchial tubes
-Lung capacities improves up to 10%
-Your chance of having a stroke will be the same of those non-smokers after 2 years

Death related to cigarette smoking

In the US alone there are about 500,000 annual death related to cigarette smoking where a large part of this is caused by Lung Cancer (2000-2004 Data).
1 out of 10 moderate smokers and 1 out 5 heavy smokers will die from Lung cancer.
Only 0.5% of people who never touched a cigarette developed Lung cancer.
Did you know?
Smoking a stick of cigarette will shorten your life by 11 minutes.

How to stop?

There are different methods to stop the urge to smoke every minute of your life, the only thing you need is to remove the nicotine in your body.
NRT – Also known as nicotine replacement treatment, they come in different types from patches, nasal spray or gum.
Zyban – It is a medicine licensed to help smoking cessation.
Champix (varenicline): Is a type of medicine that will mimic the effect of nicotine in your body, it also reduce the withdrawal symptoms and the chance of successfully quitting is doubled with this medicine.
Mind over matter – Without the will to stop you cannot stop no matter how many NRT you use or even if you overdose yourself with Champix. Controlling yourself not to smoke is the best remedy, it is normal to suffer from withdrawal symptoms but remember that this sacrifice will give a lifetime benefit to you and your love ones.
If you can’t control your body using your mind does this means that your body is more abundant than your mind?

Have mercy!

Second hand smoking is very common to everyone, children, men, women and elders suffer from this curse even if they do not smoke at all. Some merciless smokers don’t care if they are smoking in a public place or if there are people that can inhale their puffs, as long as they are satisfied they will do it regardless of the consequences that others might suffer. This is a common thing in a family where one of the members is a smoker, small children will suffer greatly from this, because their body is still young and their defense against these deadly toxins is still low. If you want to smoke then why not do it in a private place?or in a place designed for smoking, if you don’t care for your health please care for someone else health.

Superfluid - What is it?

Introduction

All of us are familiar with the 3 states of matter namely; solid, liquid and gas. But have you ever heard of the ‘Superfluid’ state of matter? Yes you read it right, it’s a superfluid but not a kind of water than can cure cancer or can fly, it has nothing to do with superheroes. But this state of matter has some extraordinary property which is unusual to normal liquids, one of its extraordinary property is that it does have a zero viscosity.
Viscosity
The resistance of a fluid is called viscosity, lower viscosity means lower resistance and higher viscosity means higher resistance. Let’s take for example water and honey, water has a lower viscosity than honey and in that way you can guess what viscosity means, in Filipino language we call it “Lapot”, a fluid with lower viscosity can flow easily than a fluid with higher viscosity.
Superfluid
Since a superfluid doesn’t have viscosity then it doesn’t have friction too, it means that it can escape on small holes that a normal fluid can’t surpass. The most common superfluid is the Helium-4 (2 neutrons and 2 protons), when it was tested in a container it forms a super thin film of fluid about the size of 30nm (Nanometer) under the surface to “escape” its container.
